Texas Sheet Cake. When I was growing up here in Virginia, we called this recipe Secret Cake. Andrea of Simply Living Healthy provided a long listing of alternative names for her recipe, but Secret Cake was not one of them. She says that if you grew up in Texas—as she did—you simply called it Sheet Cake. She even shares one of the theories on the origin of that name. Trust me … if you have ever heard Texans talk about their state, the revelation of those specifics won’t surprise you.
Although Andrea reduced the size of this cake from the original recipe, she says that it still makes 12 generous servings. This cake is gluten-free and refined sugar free, but clearly just as decadent as the original gluten-full recipe. Last, FYI, Andrea’s the blogger who also gave us that Homemade Popcorn Chocolate Candy Christmas Treat recipe for holiday gifts. That recipe would also make great snacking fare for your upcoming Super Bowl party!
