I’m setting aside the dessert recipes that include chocolate today to bring you a dessert that works well for Valentine’s Day or Christmas via its vibrant red coloring alone. And honestly this dessert would be welcome on one’s table any time of year. It is a super healthy fruit-based recipe—Slow Cooker Cranberry Apple Sauce—from Denise at Edible Harmony.
This Crockpot Wassail from Stephanie at A Year of Slow Cooking is one of my very favorite hot beverages. It’s wonderful for serving a small crowd (or a big family). The combination of flavors in this wassail is simply incredible! With ingredients like apple cider, pineapple juice, honey, an orange, cinnamon, cloves, one would expect this wassail to be good, but I am truly surprised each time I make it at just how wonderful this wassail truly is. This recipe is family friendly, but Stephanie says that adults are free to add brandy shots to their mugs before filling with wassail. Now that really makes for a warming wassail!
At the start of 2008, disciplined and enthusiastic Stephanie of A Year of Slow Cooking vowed to cook every day in her slow cooker. And she did! She shared all her recipes and results on her blog … the good and the bad (although admittedly there were far many more recipes that turned out well than not).
