Paleo Chocolate Chip Scones from Elana’s Pantry

I’ve been making a variation of Elana’s (Elana’s Pantry) Orange Dark Chocolate Chip Scones for quite some time. They were the first scones I ever made and have been loved by all who have tried them. Now Elana has come out with a new Paleo Chocolate Chip Scones recipe. Her latest recipe uses coconut flour, vegan shortening, honey, dark chocolate chunks, sea salt, and baking soda. In a little more than 15 minutes, you can be enjoying these gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, paleo treats!

Heads up … Elana’s soon-to-be-released book, Paleo Cooking from Elana’s Pantry: Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, High Protein Recipes, is available for preorder here. Her earlier cookbooks, The Almond Flour Cookbook (her first book that helped put almond flour “on the map”) and Gluten-Free Cupcakes: 50 Irresistible Recipes Made with Almond and Coconut Flour, are favorites of mine and many others.

  1. Can you post your variation on the Orange Chocolate Scone?

    • Hi liese!–Welcome to All Gluten-Free Desserts! When I make Elana’s Orange Dark Chocolate Scones, I just leave out the orange zest and use honey instead of agave nectar. I use semi-sweet Ghirardelli chocolate chips as they’re readily available at my local grocery store and are dairy free. You can find her recipe here and make those changes if you like. :-)
