When a recipe includes watermelon, I’m going to stop and take a look for sure. When it’s 90+ degrees in the shade, chances are that I am not only going to take a look, but I’m also going to make and love the recipe. Watermelon is so incredibly refreshing in the heat of summer and its natural sweetness makes it a star in the dessert category. So it should come as no surprise that this Jalapeno Watermelon Limeade from Winnie of Healthy Green Kitchen “called to me” for our Specialty Drink category.
I love the limeade aspect of this naturally gluten-free beverage, but Winnie says that you can use lemons if you prefer. The jalapeno infusion method is used to add a bit of a kick, which you can adjust up or down (even to the point not infusing with the jalapeno if you like). The adult version uses a splash of vodka, and that addition sounds just perfect to me!
