This recipe is very adaptable, too. For example, you can lower the amount of sugar and cut back some on the butter. You can use sifted coconut flour for your flour choice to make your pie grain free. Sometimes I make a completely dairy-free, refined sugar-free version for my support group, using coconut milk instead of dairy milk, coconut oil instead of butter (slightly less than the recipe calls for), and coconut sugar instead of granulated sugar. You’ll actually see many such variations in reader comments on the recipe post and all the variations are delicious!
